Exeter City midfielder Joel Randall expressed his delight on scoring his first League goal on his first leauge start in the Grecians 2-2 draw with Salford City at the Peninsular Stadium.
Joel, a product of the Exeter City Academy, gave the Grecians a deserved lead 2-1 lead on 34 minutes, heading home after Jake Taylor had sent a thunderbolt of a half volley towards the top corner. Joel himself was suprised with just how he scored the goal:
"I'm really happy." said Joel. "I'm delighted with my first league goal but can't believe it's a header!
"The team showed that we are ready to compete in this league, there were a few debuts with the new lads and Josh and Will, so a really good start for us.
"Coming into pre-season I saw an opportunity with a few players leaving, and I'm thankful to Matt to give me an opportunity today and hopefully I can carry on with that going forward."
