We are delighted to announce the signing of French midfielder Timothee Dieng on a one year deal.
Timothee joins the club after departing Southend United and brings with him vast Football League experience.
The 29-year-old began his career in his native France with Brest, making his debut against Paris St Germain in Ligue 1 before being snapped up by Oldham Athletic in 2014.
He spent two years with the Latics, making over 60 appearances and was then signed by Bradford City. With the Bantams he made 65 appearances over two seasons, scoring six times.
He joined Southend United in 2018, and went on to make over 100 appearances in three seasons. As well as his favoured midfield position, Tim is also featured both in central defence and as a striker for the Shrimps. During the management of Sol Campbell, Dieng was selected as the club's captain. Tim bagged nine goals in his time in Essex, three of which came last season - one against local rivals Colchester United.
City boss Matt Taylor believes Dieng will be a great asset to his side.
"Tim is a great midfield player and is vastly experienced," he said.
"He's been back over in France with his family so it took a little time to get him across with quarantine regulations, but he's here now and has a three week period to get ready for the season.
"We're really looking forward to the impact he can have on these players. With the departures of Nicky Law and Jake Taylor it was the right thing to do to bring in another midfield player."
