Matt Jay has given his thoughts as City drew 0-0 with Portsmouth.
"I think the boys will be really pleased with the performance, we seemed to be getting better and better and I think a good performance at home, means we were probably unlucky not to come away with a bit more. Although Jamal certainly saved us a few times in the game," he said.
"I think on the whole we are pretty pleased with what we did today, and we’ll be looking to build on that in the next few days and into the new year.
It was a brilliant game and enjoyed it, a packed-out St James Park, I wasn’t actually expecting to start and play today because we have had a couple of illnesses in the squad. So, I made sure to take it easy yesterday, very few roast potatoes!
Regarding Gary's reaction to the point, MJ said: “He was pleased, obviously we just need to add a bit more quality in the final third, myself included. We tried to get better, and we have had some problems at the back recently. We seemed to do very well today, defended set pieces terrifically and I think we just need to add a few more strings to our bow."
