Exeter City Women will bring 2022 to a close on Sunday as Larkhall Athletic are the visitors to the Exwick Sports Hub (2.00pm Kick Off) in National League action.
James Goddard-Wellon's team have endured a tough season to date. The first nine games of the campaign saw eight defeats for the North Somerset side, although there are signs of better times ahead. The Larks have won three of their last four games, with a County Cup win at Ilminster and, most importantly, league wins over St Austell and Keynsham Town of which saw them move out of the relegation places.
Chloe Snook and Hannah Price have offered the main goal threat this season, with four and three respectively. Mia Brain has two goals in her last two games, including a vital winning goal against Keynsham Town last time out. Goddard-Wellon's side will travel to Devon competing in their first fixture for four weeks and will be hopeful of adding more points to their recent run of good form.
It was frustration for Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley’s side last weekend as the weather ruled out their return to league action. City’s last home game in the league came all the way back in early October as goals from Jenna Markham (2) and Mollie Taylor beat AFC Bournemouth at St James Park.
With all the teams around the Grecians in the National League table in Cup action over the coming weekend, this will be an important afternoon to set the platform for 2023. City will go into the fixture knowing that three points is a must and will be looking to maintain their 100% Home record in the League this season.
