The club can confirm that defender George Ray has joined fellow Sky Bet League Two side Leyton Orient on loan until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old central defender joined the club in the summer from Tranmere and has currently made 23 appearances for the Grecians. He scored his first goal for the club at Rochdale in November, followed by his second three days later in the FA Cup replay against Bradford City.
Ray departs in search of further game time and will link up with Orient immediately ahead of their trip to Bradford on Tuesday evening, which he is eligible for.
"George has contributed really well in the first half of the season, but then suddenly his season stopped as he had Covid, and that opened the door for the likes of Sam Stubbs and Cheick Diabate," Matt Taylor said.
"Sam had to wait a long time for his chance, and Cheick has taken a position in the back unit and performed so well. That probably put George down the pecking order in the immediate future, and he showed his desire to go out and find more first team football, which is totally understandable."
We'd like to wish George the very best of luck in East London! 💪
