We are delighted to announce the signing of highly rated young attacker Kieran Phillips on loan from Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town.
The 21-year-old's deal will run through to the end of the season and will wear the number 15 shirt.
Phillips spent the first half of this season at fellow League Two side Walsall, scoring five goals in 33 appearances as both a striker and a wide player. Coincidentally, his penultimate appearance for the Saddlers was in last week's 2-0 win for City at the Banks's Stadium - he was a 78th minute substitute.
The Huddersfield Town academy graduate made his senior debut for the Terriers last January in a Championship fixture with Reading, and he went on to make ten further second-tier appearances before his summer move to Walsall.
Speaking about his deadline day recruit, Matt Taylor said:
“We needed another attacking body. A centre-forward we liked at the start of the season. He’s someone we’ve been watching for a period of time now. After he was recalled by Huddersfield, we felt now was the right time to bring him in at this level and play him in his preferred position.
“He’s got experience at this level and will understand what’s needed in training, which means he’s fit enough and robust enough to come straight into the team. He’s a player we’re looking forward to working with. As long as he can hit the ground running, we’re excited to see what he brings to the top end of the pitch.
“We’re going to have a very strong attacking unit come the end of the season, when the likes of Sam Nombe and Oz Zanzala return, alongside Podge up top too. As long as his attitude and his character are right we’re really looking forward to working with Kieran”.
