Exeter City Women will be hoping to make it back-to-back league victories on Wednesday evening, a three points that would set up an intriguing visit to League Leaders Cheltenham Town on Sunday afternoon.
The Larks have endured a tough season, with only two League victories so far. James Goddard-Wellonโs team have had a quiet March, this Wednesday's game only their third fixture in the month. Defeat at Chesham was followed by a narrow two-nil reverse against Bridgewater United in the Somerset County Cup this past Thursday, a performance the Bath based team will be proud of given Bridgewater's higher level status. National League safety was all but secured with a big win over Poole Town at the end of January and so the Larks will be hoping to finish strongly in their remaining three fixtures.
A notable loss for Larkhall in recent weeks has been the departure of leading goalscorer Rhian Robbins, the forward signing for League Leaders Cheltenham Town. Robbins had been hugely impressive in recent fixtures against the two sides and will be tough to replace. Abi Footner has also been a key player for Larkhall this year, with several crucial saves, although a collision in the fixture earlier this season sadly curtailed her afternoon. That fixture in September was comfortably won by City, goals from Emily Toogood, Anthea Kaptein, Phoebe Baker and Connie Pengelly sealing all three points in a 4-0 win.
Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley will be keen for the team to take the momentum of Sunday's win into this game, City hitting another three goals against Chesham to take them to thirty two for the season, only AFC Bournemouth averaging more. A win at Plain Ham would see the Grecians move up to third in the league table and, with fixtures still to come against the top two, a late City surge is still a possibility.
