Gary Caldwell has given his thoughts as City suffered a frustrating defeat at home to Ipswich Town.
A goal in either half condemned the Grecians to a first home defeat under Caldwell's leadership, and the Scot was disappointed with the manner of the defeat.
"We started slow, recovered after they scored, but we cannot be one or two percent off against these teams, we have to be bang at it," he said.
"The intensity of our press, and our touch and quaklity wasn't quite there, and if it's not there you won't win these big games.
"We struggled to break down their defensive block and didn't win the ball back in midfield enough. That's something we have to improve against the bigger teams."
