Gary Caldwell has reflected on a difficult afternoon in Ipswich after the Grecians suffered a 6-0 defeat at Portman Road.
The home side gained promotion to the Championship with a five-goal first half blitz as they took control of proceedings, before adding a sixth in the second half.
"I'm very disappointed and a little bit embarrassed at the performance," Gary said.
"We have seen the level today and a very good football team - and if you're not at it, if you are off them, they can punish you for it.
"I take responsibility for it. I am the manager of the football club and I pick the team. We need to be better next week and find a way to recover from this.
"We have to learn this lesson that this is the level and we have to better and stronger. In every department we were outplayed today."
