City's number 26, Pierce Sweeney, has given his thoughts ahead of a long trip to Hillsborough as the Grecians prepare to take on Sheffield Wednesday for the penultimate away trip of the season.
Having played 40 appearances this season, Sweens has been almost ever-present in the backline this year and discusses how his first season in League One has been a positive experience overall.
Talking on the performance at home to Derby, "I think result aside we performed really well, I think when you looked at our team sheet there was a couple of noticeable absentees, Nombe, Stanno and Deme, big players for us when they are fit. They are kind of the heartbeat of our attacking play and our energy in the team.
"I think it has been a really good season, a really good positive season, I think we’ve played well as a team. We settled down really well when the new manager came in, it’s pretty obvious that it’s a completely different style of football to the previous manager, he wants to play possession football, we’ve dominated really good clubs at this level on the ball.
In regard to ending the current losing streak, "It’s definitely something we’ve spoken about, we don’t want to lose five games on the bounce, we don’t want to lose three or four, we are on four now and if you look on paper it’s quite difficult, it’s a difficult run of games, we should have beaten Sheffield Wednesday at home, they scored in the 95th minute. It’s gonna be a great atmosphere there on Saturday, it’s gonna be bouncing.
