Gary Caldwell has given his assessment as City were beaten 1-0 at the Pirelli Stadium by Burton Albion, despite dominating large parts of the match.
Sam Winnall's 84th minute goal thanks to a fortunate deflection decided the encounter, and Caldwell expressed his feelings about the defeat.
"Today was a massive kick in the gut after dominating from start to finish," he said at full-time.
"In possession I thought we were excellent, but in football you have to score and take your opportunities and you always run the risk of a sucker punch at the end.
"I just said to the players that they have to use the hurt for Tuesday and to go again, but i can't fault them. If we scored we'd have really started to dominate.
"When a team like Burton put a ball into the box there's always a chance that it can fall to one of their players and it did."
