✍️ Yanic Wildschut signs for City

We are delighted to announce that experienced winger Yanic Wildschut has joined the club on a short term deal until January 2024.

The Dutchman, who plays internationally for Suriname through descent, strengthens Gary Caldwell attacking options ahead of Saturday's game with Cheltenham Town.

Born in Amsterdam, the Ajax youth academy product started his professional career at PEC Zwolle, before turning out for VVV-Venlo, Heerenveen and ADO Den Haag before moving to England to join Middlesbrough in 2014.

After making 13 appearances in his first season on Teesside, Wildschut was loaned to Wigan Athletic where he played under Gary Caldwell, before City's current boss signed him for a fee of £1m. After a sterling 2015-16 season, he was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year in a promotion winning season for the Latics.

He was snapped up by Norwich for a fee of £7m in January 2017, before loan spells at Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers.

He moved to Israel to join Maccabi Haifa, making over 50 appearances in the Israeli Premier League, before a move to Bulgaria followed, making over 30 appearances for CSKA Sofia where his achievements included scoring against Roma in the UEFA Conference League.

Wildschut returned to England last summer, joining Oxford United, though injury prevented him making his debut until December. He made 23 appearances for the U's in total, scoring once.

Yanic will wear number 13.
