Exeter City players will wear black armbands during Saturday's game against Stevenage as a mark of respect to the victims of the Finnish school shooting which took place on Tuesday morning.
One child died and two more were injured at the Viertola School in Vantaa. All three were aged 12.
Since the signings of both Ilmari Niskanen and Viljami Sinisalo, the Exeter City fanbase has grown in Finland and the Finnish flag can regularly be seen on match days at St James Park and at away games.
Both Vil and Ilmari were shocked by the incident and at their request, we have opted to support their wishes to wear black armbands. We have also invited Stevenage and the match officials to join us, should they wish to partake.
There will always be a small part of Finland in Exeter ❤️🇫🇮
The pair said: "No one should ever be in a situation where their kids go to school and not see them again. We want to raise awareness for school bullying and mental health.
"If you see bullying in school make sure you report it to teacher and to your families at home. Everyone should enjoy going to school, being themselves. What happened back home is truly shocking.
"We want to send our deepest condolences on behalf of the whole football club for the victims and their families as well as everyone involved, during this difficult time!"
