16-year-old Jake Richards has given his thoughts ahead of City's trip to Northampton this weekend.
The City academy youngster has started the last two fixtures at Orient and Port Vale, having made a total of ten first-team appearances this campaign. Manager Gary Caldwell has been impressed with Richards, particularly over the last two matches, and Jake has also been pleased with how his campaign has panned out.
"It's been a really good experience having had opportunities over the last few weeks. Gary has given me a lot of confidence and the players have been really good with me," Jake said.
"I felt like I played really well in the first half against Orient but could have done better against Port Vale. The step up from 18s to first team is quite a lot physically and it did take its toll on my body initially but I'm ready now to play more games.
"You're learning so much off players like Tom Carroll who have had so much experience at the highest level, and he's similar to me as a left footed centre-mid. It's really easy to learn from him."
