Ahead of a long journey across to Lewes FC this Sunday, Abbie Britton shared her thoughts about the game.
Firstly though, before Sunday’s demolition of MK Dons Women in her team’s opening match at tier three level, Abbie added another player to her squad in the form of forward Jade Grove.
“Jade offers something completely different to the other strikers,” Abbie explained. “She wants to play with her back to goal, she wants to link the midfield up nicely whereas the others like to run in behind, have battles with defenders – Jade just offers something different.
“She’s got tier three experience, and she also plays for England futsal so we know she’s a good technician of the ball.
“It was an obvious signing once we knew she was available and interested in joining Exeter, her experience is going to prove invaluable in this league.
Onto Sunday’s game away at Lewes, City will face a different task to the challenge posed by MK Dons last week, with the hosts only recently relegated.
“Lewes were a Championship club last year and while they’ve had a difficult summer and struggled to keep some of their players, so they’ve got 13 or 14 new bodies in.
“We know what to expect from them, it’s going to be an aggressive game of football, we’ve done our analysis on them.
“The crowd for them always turns out and we need to use that to our advantage and not theirs’s and quiet them early.”
