Club Statement

Exeter City Football Club has concluded its review following the legal proceedings involving Ilmari Niskanen for driving with excess alcohol.
 
The club accepts that Ilmari has been held accountable through the legal system and has demonstrated sincere remorse for his actions. As a community-focused club, we believe in accountability, learning, and rehabilitation. We aim to support individuals who take responsibility for their actions and work to make a positive contribution.
 
Ilmari has shown a deep understanding of the gravity of this incident. As part of his commitment to making amends, he will support the delivery of community initiatives, including a PFA pilot programme with Exeter City Community Trust which is designed to engage and educate young people who are at risk of offending or anti-social behaviour.
 
He remains available for selection.
