Gary Caldwell on draw with Wigan

Gary post Wigan interview

Gary Caldwell has given his reaction as Reece Cole marked his return to the starting line up with a goal as City drew 1-1 with Wigan Athletic.

Cole's first start since August saw him thump home a leveller after Dale Taylor's penalty for the Latics, in a game where City finished strongest and could have won it.

"That was two teams that needed points and played with a lack of free-flowing football. Both teams were inhibited in how they try to attack and the confidence levels you need to be at your very best as a player."

"I thought the players showed character in the second half though and they kept going, and looked like the only team who were going to win the game.

"We gave the penalty away, and I couldn't see them scoring unless we gave them that opportunity. We were the team that looked like we wanted to win the game and we couldn't find that quality in the final third, but I just said to the players that they are better than that."

"They have to play with more freedom and belief if they want to win that game."
