Gary Caldwell was frustrated that his side couldn't see off Northampton as the Grecians lost for the first time in League One this season.

City had a positive first half and led 1-0 at the break thanks to Tristan Crama's header, but two goals in the final 25 minutes flipped the score on its head and won three points for the home side.

"Disappointing result," said Gary. "I thought the performance for large parts was very good.

"We started the game really well, scored a great set-piece which we’ve been working on and should’ve scored more goals in that period.

“Second half pretty similar story – started really well, created loads of chances but couldn’t get that second goal which I think kills the game off."

One of the positives for City was new signing Kamari Doyle, who came off the bench and was a threat during his brief cameo.

“I thought Kamari was excellent, he came on in the game at a really difficult moment.

"He got two shots, the first one was very unlucky – a fantastic block – the second one just couldn’t get hold of it to hit it hard enough to get it past the goalkeeper."

“He showed quality in the middle of the park with his final ball so I think over the course of the season he’s going to be a brilliant addition."
