Pierce Sweeney on defeat at Northampton Town

Captain Pierce Sweeney has given his thoughts as Exeter City surrendered a lead at Sixfields, losing 2-1 to Northampton Town.

Despite Tristan Crama's early header, two second half goals from the hosts means the Grecians were unable to build on last weekend's win, despite a host of chances.

"We did pretty well in the first half but we let them back into the game with disappointing goals," Sweeney said.

"It felt like we should have been more than a goal up and it should have been an uphill battle for Northampton."

"There are opportunities where we should have done a lot better. We know we're good enough to keep a clean sheet here.

"I feel like we should have threatened them more and been at least two up at the break, but then they get their chance. We have to look at it, learn from it, and move on to Peterborough next week.

"We have to learn to never expect it to be easy, and we have to manage the game better and regroup."
