Gary Caldwell has reacted as Exeter City built on Tuesday's confidence building FA Cup game to record a 1-0 win on the road at struggling Cambridge United.
Josh Magennis has found form as he registered his fourth goal in three matches in the second as the group used the dogged draw against Nottingham Forest as a springboard in the league.
"The performance wasn't great from how we wanted to play and different things didn't work, but the character, desire, and personality to try and win a football match was very similar to Tuesday night and that is the foundation that we need.
"It was great to see a clean sheet as that is always important. Joe was excellent for us, as was big Angus in the back three and that is a really big three points for us."
