Gary Caldwell has given his thoughts as City kicked off their pre-season friendlies with a 2-1 victory at Tiverton Town.
Caleb Watts and Sonny Cox were on the scoresheet for the Grecians either side of the break, turning round a one goal deficit after Joe Parker's opener for the hosts.
"I thought it was a really good game for the first game," Gary said.
"At times things weren't as cohesive as they are going to be down the line, but the fitness levels were extremely high considering we trained this morning.
"It's always nice to win, as I said before we need to develop that winning mentality, but Tiverton were excellent throughout, they were physical which is exactly what we needed."
