Up against Championship forwards for the second time in a week, Jack Fitzwater was happy with what the Grecians can take from the match against Bristol City, despite defeat.
City’s backline was tested on several occasions but largely held firm barring two Harry Cornick strikes, 10 minutes apart in the second half.
“As pre-seasons games go, that was our toughest one but we’ve got loads of positives to take,”
“From a defensive shape we looked quite good, just missing our final ball and end product.”
The centre-back was also pleased to start yet again in pre-season, as he looked to consolidate a spot in City’s starting eleven after an injury-hit campaign last season.
“Last season I didn’t play as much as I wanted to but I had a big off-season, worked hard and this pre-season has all been about staying fit, touch wood!”
