Goalkeeper Joe Whitworth has given his thoughts ahead of City’s first league away game of the season at Northampton Town on Saturday.
After keeping a clean sheet on his competitive debut in last Saturday’s season opener against Rotherham United and saving a penalty in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match at Walsall, the 20-year-old has settled in well to life at St James Park and hopes to continue impressing as the season continues.
“It has been great and I’m really enjoying my time here so far. I am really looking forward to the future here,” Joe said.
“The fans support has been amazing too, hearing their voices at the Rotherham game and it’s been great hearing them cheering my name which gives you a confidence boost. We have to keep using the energy and replicate on the pitch."
“Now on Saturday we have to react to Tuesday and we have a great group, so I believe we can do that. Knowing what we did wrong, we’ll put that right on Saturday.”
