After scoring his first goal for the Grecians, Josh Magennis gave his thoughts after a busy 48 hours that saw him net for club and country.

Having only returned from international duty yesterday, the Northern Irish striker started on the bench before being introduced at the break. Watching on, Josh was impressed with the way his teammates defended after Kamari Doyle's early goal.

"It hasn't been a bad 24 hours, it's been pretty hectic with travel and preparation but it's worked out well."

"We did unbelievable to take the lead, and then I thought we stepped back a wee bit and I think we could've took the narrative away from Shrewsbury, no disrespect to them but we had enough quality to dominate the game.

"We managed to stay in the lead, we had an unbelievable sense of defending from Joe all the way to number nine. We're good at keeping clean sheets and I was confident, sitting on the bench, that chances would arise in the second half."

Josh doubled City's lead 20 minutes into the second half when he tapped home Jack Aitchison's cross, and the forward was delighted to net his first for the club in front of the travelling supporters.

"The passion and the desire the supporters have to come and watch us is brilliant and it makes even sweeter when we can go on and win the game."
