Match Preview: Barnsley (A)

Barnsley preview

Exeter City are back on the road on Tuesday night, making the long trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley in a 7:45pm kick-off in EFL Sky Bet League One.

City's six-game unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat to automatic promotion chasing Wrexham, and the Grecians will be looking to get back to winning ways at Oakwell.

Barnsley sit 11th in the League One table and drew 1-1 with Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

City have fared well in their last two trips to Oakwell, who can forget Jay Stansfield's double back in October 2022, or Reece Cole's stunner in last season's 2-1 win.

A huge thank you to everyone that is making the long midweek trip to Barnsley - legends!

Previous Encounter

Exeter City 1 Barnsley 2 | 14/12/24 | EFL Sky Bet League One

Two goals at the start of the second half condemned City to a 2-1 defeat against Barnsley, despite the Grecians taking an early lead.

The Grecians dominated much of the first half and went ahead through Josh Magennis' free-kick, before creating several opportunities to extend their advantage. However, they were punished after the break as Barnsley turned the game around with goals from Callum Styles and Davis Keillor-Dunn securing the points for the visitors.
