Exeter City hope to build momentum from two consecutive wins as they head to the Brick Community Stadium to take on Wigan Athletic on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.
With 2-0 home wins against Stevenage and Spurs U21 in the last week, the Grecians will hope to make the north-west a happy hunting ground following on from victory at Bolton in late August. City were 2-1 winners at the Latics last season, thanks to goal from Mo Eisa and Jack Aitchison.
Wigan were in action in midweek, drawing 0-0 at home to Stevenage - their second consecutive goalless draw following a stalemate at Lincoln last Saturday. The Latics have not conceded a league goal since August 31 in a 2-1 loss at Birmingham. They currently sit 14th in the table with two wins, two draws and three defeats.
Gary Caldwell's Thoughts
“We have had a chance to watch back Wigan’s game on Tuesday and myself, the analysts and coaches have done our preparation, and we are clear on what we need to do to go and win the game.
“They have changed from last season. They were very possession based last season but not so much now, they have made a few changes and are a flexible team tactically. I know the manager very well obviously and he is very smart – he will analyse us the same way we analyse them, and he will set up his team accordingly.
“We have to adapt to the opponent but also be clear what our strengths are and use them on the day, and impose ourselves on the game.”
