Weather warning ahead of trip to Plainmoor
City fans that are intending to travel via train to Plainmoor from London, Bristol, Taunton and Barnstaple should be warned that the Cowley Bridge Junction (labelled on the below map) has flooded overnight in the poor weather.
The railway line at this junction is consequently out of action, meaning that the CrossCountry Trains service from Edinburgh (via Bristol) and the First Great Western services from Barnstaple and London Paddington (via Bristol) will be disrupted. Rail replacement bus services should be operating between Tiverton Parkway and Exeter St Davids, but please plan additional time for your journey. Similarly, fans travelling on unaffected lines should bear in mind that their service may be busier than usual, owing to fans having to rearrange their journey.
Fans travelling from London might be advised to use the slower South West Trains service from London Waterloo to Exeter St Davids, which presently remains clear. However please bear in mind that sections of this line also flooded around a month ago around the Yeovil area and could be affected again.
To keep abreast of latest news, please see the links to Twitter accounts of rail below. The game is currently scheduled to go ahead as planned, though we will endeavour to keep fans updated as often as possible (via social media in particular).
Be sure to stay safe and not to take any unnecessary risks in this wet weather.
