Irishman beams after dazzling display against York
Modest as ever, Jimmy Keohane said that the team victory away at York took precedent over the personal glory of scoring his first goal in professional football.
However he couldn’t disguise his joy at finding his name on the scoresheet for the first time, and effectively sealing the victory as part of an eye-catching performance.
“It’s my first for Exeter and it’s been coming a while, but I suppose the three points are more important,” said Jimmy. “It’s a cliché, but it’s true! But I’m delighted to get my first one because it’s been quite a while.
“Kev got the cross in and I saw Flynny going for it, so I thought I’d follow in at the back stick, and thankfully it came through to me in a bit of space. I just had to concentrate on keeping it down and hit it hard and low, and luckily it went in.”
And now he’s hoping that the Grecians can translate their away form into a result at St James Park this weekend, when Southend visit Devon.
He continued: “Hopefully we can improve our home form now and get a few wins at home and stay in the play-off positions, and maybe even get into the automatic spots.”
