Goalscorer Jake Richards was pleased with the "job" that City did during their 2-0 win against Tottenham under-21s in the EFL Trophy this evening.

After a goalless first half, Millenic Alli scored within five minutes of the restart before Jake put the icing on the cake  with a fabulous free-kick deep into additional time.

"It was really good, it's good to get minutes," Jake said. "I haven't had many recently due to the fact there are players in the first team performing well.

"They're a good side and it was a really good test for us, but we came out and did a job.

On his free-kick, while Dan Green was wondering if it was a shot or a cross, Jake only had the goal in his sights.

"I won the foul, Pedro came over to me and said he was going to shoot and so I took it off him. I saw the keeper was over to one side and so I just shot and happily it went in."

"We take a lot of time over set pieces and it's paying off at the moment."
