Josh Magennis sat down to share his views on Saturday’s League One opener against Rotherham at St James Park.
Firstly though, with only one more day of pre-season remaining, Josh reflected on the past few weeks training as the squad built up to the 2024/25 season.
“It has been tough. I think every club you go to has a different philosophy with what they’re trying to do in pre-season.
“I think this club is all about getting the maximum potential out of what you’ve got. It’s been early mornings and late finishes, but it’s been fairly enjoyable because as much as it has been tough we’ve been doing it together as a group.”
On this weekend’s fixture, Josh is looking forward to the physical challenge of coming up against a Steve Evans team.
“I’ve played a lot against Steve Evans’ football sides, they’ll be highly physical, very athletic and they will work their socks off – there’s nobody getting carried in his teams.
“You add quality to that and it makes them a formidable force, with the signings they’ve managed to make along with his style of play makes them a very tough side to play against.
“But, as much as we can concentrate on them, we have to see what we can bring to the table and how we can hurt them.”
