Welcome Pat

Exeter City is delighted to announce the signing of Pat Jones, who joins on a permanent undisclosed deal from Huddersfield Town on a one-year deal, with a club option of a second.

The Welsh under-21 international, who is a left-footed winger but can operate on either side of midfield, has got seven caps for the Dragons youth team, and is in their squad for their upcoming Euro 2025 qualifier against Iceland.

Despite being born in Stockport, Pat began his career at Welsh side Ruthin Town, before moving on to Bala United and then Wrexham. He joined Huddersfield Town’s academy in 2019 and turned professional a year later.

Since then, he’s gone on to make 18 appearances for the Terriers, scoring once against Norwich – a superb solo goal running from the half-way line. He’s also come off the bench once already this season, appearing against Walsall in the EFL Cup.

On signing for City, Pat said: “I am really pleased. It has been a hectic day and I can't wait to get going.

"I heard about the interest a few days a go, and Gary [Caldwell] is someone that I have known through my agent for a years now, and it has really accelerated in the last day.

"It's a long way down south and it is a big move for me, but I'm really keen for it and I really want to play for this football club. It will be great to see the boys in action tomorrow, which is something I really wanted to do."

On signing Pat, Manager Gary Caldwell said: "Pat is someone I’ve know for a long time having coached him 1 to 1 during the off season a few years ago.

"He has all the talent to be an exciting attacking player who can score goals and create opportunities for others with his speed and 1v1 attributes."

"He has struggled to get as much game time as he would like at Huddersfield after breaking into the team at a young age. We are delighted to have Pat and hope that he can stay healthy and show his ability on a regular basis."
